Unchecked Balances

About

A watchlist for power.

Unchecked Balances is a play on "checks and balances." It's an independent aggregator that pulls accountability reporting from established investigative newsrooms — ProPublica, NPR, The Guardian, Politico, Mother Jones, The Intercept, PBS, CBS, NBC, and many more — and surfaces the stories that matter.

The focus is sharp and the scope is deliberate: corruption, abuse of power, foreign influence, and the erosion of the balance of power — across the Trump family, the administration's officials, lawmakers in Congress, and the federal courts. The beat is the United States. Foreign stories are included only when they have a clear US nexus — a Kushner deal in Albania, a Saudi check to Affinity Partners, a Qatari jet to Mar-a-Lago.

We don't host the articles. Every headline links directly to the original publisher, where the work was done. The feed updates automatically every few hours. No editors play favorites; no algorithm hides what's inconvenient. If a story matches the criteria, it appears.

Power deserves an audience. So does the press that holds it accountable.
